As a teacher it will be your job to find and utilize good nonfiction books in the classroom. Not necessarily an easy task given the stigma that nonfiction books tend to have. However, that's all changing and there are a ton of really good nonfiction books out there. To complete this professional development web quest it will be your job to find a good nonfiction book that will work with an upcoming lesson and fits into the Content Standards you teach. Then you will find three different Web 2.0 tools. It is important to expose students to as much technology as possible and to meet some of the 21st Century Standards in lessons as well. From there you will choose one of these tools and incorporate it into the nonfiction book lesson you will be creating. Once you have a book and a Web 2.0 tool it's your job to combine them and create an engaging lesson for your students. Now my job as a librarian is to support you! In addition to the resources on this site please feel free to come ask me for some book recommendations or come chat about ways to incorporate Web 2.0 tools into your lesson plans. I'm always happy to help and I love chatting! By the completion of this Web Quest you should have a great new book for your classroom and, to go with it, a great lesson plan. Not only that but collaborating as a group will help you learn more about different Web 2.0 tools and different ways other teachers have thought of using these tools (and nonfiction books!) in the classroom.
